GUJRANWALA: The Special Tribunal of the Anti-Terrorism Tribunal (ATC) in Gujranwala has granted detention of Naveed Meher, the prime suspect in the Imran Khan attack, for 12 days, ARY News reported today.
The prime suspect, Naveed Meher, was brought before the ATC Gujranwala Special Court in the case of attacking Imran Khan. Tight security was arranged during his presence in court.
Three members of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), including Additional Special Inspector General (AIG) Ehsanullah Chohan, Superintendent of Police (SP), Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Lahore Naseebullah Khan and SP Malik Tariq, also attended the trial. too
The police force asked Meher to be detained for 30 days, however the court granted the main suspect 12 days to be detained and handed over to JIT.
The suspect will be brought before a special court on November 29.
Meher was arrested after opening fire on the party leader. Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Prime Minister Imran Khan on November 3 from the scene in Wazirabad. The First Information Report (FIR) of a gun attack incident was registered on Nov. 7.
The suspect Naveed Meher was presented before the court 10 days after the FIR registration. The suspect informed the judge that he had been held in custody for 10 days before being brought to court.
The judge expressed frustration at the delayed production of the suspect. The court also ordered an investigation into Naveed Meher production delays and asked JIT chiefs to investigate who was responsible.

It is necessary to mention here that Imran Khan and several other PTI leaders were injured after a man opened fire near the PTI’s welcome camp at Allahwala Chowk during a long party march.
