Islamabad: The Senate Finance Committee has been told thousands of containers are stranded at Kazim Karachi port due to clearance issues.
As detailed, Asim Ahmad, chairman of the Federal Revenue Board (FBR), told the Senate Finance Committee: Nearly 3,000 containers are stranded at Qasim Port amid clearance issues. Nearly 3000 containers are stuck at Port Qasim for a variety of reasons.
The FBR president informed the Senate committee that the food and cosmetic items in the 640 containers had expired. The remaining containers contain mobile phones, vehicles, home appliances. and furniture.

These containers are jammed due to container import policy directives. wrong declaration and letters of credit (LCs) were not opened. while some containers were halted due to import bans. Nearly 3000 containers are stuck at Port Qasim for a variety of reasons
