Former Pakistan national team captain Yunis Khan on Wednesday also reacted to a statement made by ACC chairman Jay Shah about the 2023 Asia Cup transition, which is scheduled to be held in Pakistan, to another location.

As for the question of opting out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Younis said Pakistan should play at all costs.
He said the ICC and ACC should play a role in resolving the issue.
The development took place on the eve of the BCCI annual general meeting in Mumbai, with ACC chairman Jay Shah recommending that the Asia Cup be played in a neutral venue.
Indian media have previously reported that ACC chairman Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, has confirmed that India will not travel to Pakistan for next year’s Asia Cup.
The ACC has yet to discuss the issue. After that, a final decision will be made on the location.
PCB, in their response, accused Jay Shah of making comments without discussing or consulting with ACC or even the hosts without thinking about the long-term consequences and implications.
“The overall impact of such messages has the potential to divide the Asian and international cricket community. And it could affect Pakistan’s visit to India for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and future ICC events in India in rounds 2024-2031,” the statement read. “The PCB must be up to date without any formal communication. from the ACC in the statement of the ACC chairman.

“Therefore, PCB has written to the Asian Cricket Council to convene an emergency meeting of the Board as soon as possible on this important and sensitive matter.”
India has not toured Pakistan since 2008 and has not played bilateral cricket with them since 2012 due to strained relations between the two countries’ governments. Their competitions are held only at the ICC and ACC events.
