The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said that polls will be held on all provincial and national assemblies seats if Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) decides to abolish all assemblies, citing sources. ECP News
ECP sources said elections would be held under a constitutional process. If a seat in the provincial or national council becomes vacant There is no specific law about announcing a general election if the number of seats becomes vacant. By poll that will see all seats if PTI
All seats vacant during the five-year tenure of the constitutional council are elected by opinion polls. Opinion polls will not be held if seats are vacated before the end of their term of four months or less. Any seats vacant before that period will be filled by the poll, ECP sources said.
Former Prime Minister and Chairman of the Party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan announced that his party had decided to cancel all demonstrations.
“We will not be part of this country’s political system. We have decided to cancel all gatherings,” the former prime minister said as he addressed party officials and supporters at Rawalpindi Jalsa.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Imran Khan-led party is ruling the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province while they also hold power in Punjab through an alliance with the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q).
